These seem to be the staple footwear for all discount UGG boots and wannabe UGGS out there. Or so I thought. A year ago I would have told you these ugly creations are not for me, there was no way I was going to be seen in them. They are clumpy, hideous, unflattering and generally really ugly. 

But they appeared on the feet of the general public more and more, supermarkets brought out their own versions, as soon as Autumn and Winter hit, everyone seemed to have a pair - including many men! 

What is the fascination, I thought? So I tried on a pair by Primark and I realised it was like wearing slippers outside. However, the cheap versions do not last long. They are easily trodden down on one side and rarely waterproof for long. I got through several pairs this way. Until I decided the time had come to part with the money for my first real pair of discount UGGs boots. 

And wow what an investment. They are the comfiest thing you will ever put on your feet, and to be allowed to walk the streets in these is amazing. Yes, they are pretty ugly, and clumpy and all those things I mentioned before, but when it's cold and rainy, I don't care! I want my comfy slipper boots and nothing else is quite good enough. 

I would recommend anyone thinking about buying a pair to go to a store and try them on before you take advantage of any online deals (also beware that many online are fakes). You are supposed to buy the UGG boots on sale half a size too small because they are made of sheepskin and will stretch. 

They are lined inside with fur, to keep you extra warm and cosy, and some people say not to wear socks with them, but personally, I prefer to, but that is just a matter of person opinion. 

You also need to invest in a care kit to waterproof the little creatures. It comes with a shampoo and a brush too, but for about £20 for the kit, I do think when I'm paying nearly £200 for the actual shoes they should provide such things free of charge! 

I have waterproofed mine twice, I have worn them almost daily throughout the winter, even in the snow, and they are still my favourite pair of winter shoes without a doubt. If you take care of your cheap UGG boots properly, and don't tread down the sides (like so many of you young ladies out there do) then there is no reason why these shoes won't last you 3 years. My parents have been known to refer to me "treating" my Uggs like a pet! They kind of are, they need brushing and cleaning etc. 

The variety of colours you can get them in is astounding, not to mention the different styles, but my personal favourite is the classic tall, snug and comfy and keeps the bottom of your leg warm too! Delicious. 

I know the initial outlay for cheap UGG boots is expensive, but if you do take care of them, and add up how much you'd spend on Primark versions over 3 years, I think you will find that these are a much better (and less wasteful) option.
