38 and considering circumcision - is it worth it?

I have had a tight foreskin and a slight tear in the 'hinge' (for want of a better word!), and have also been plagued with thursh over the years. I have put off circmucision on the basis that I don't like ops, and my situation is irritating rather than debilitating in terms of sex. Is there anyone else out there who has had it done as late in life? What should I be asking/requesting from my doctor pre op? How on earth do all the veins that presumably have to be cut mend afterwards - surely every time you get an erection, they are going to start bleeding again?

Sorry if this has all been covered before - however if anyone has time to give me some advice as to whether I should go ahead with it or not at my age, and what to ask pre op and expect post op, I would be most appreciative.

the new me

I my self am 37 years old and plagued with the same problems in witch you face.I sit hear now with a two day old "new circumcision" and are very happy that i took the time to find a surgion that is not a butcher and who is very artistic in his approach. The proceedure took under an hour from pre opp to waking and must say that the only problem i have faced is removing the dressing.I was told by my surgion to mix up a glass of teppid salty water and slowly plunge your penis into it.The salt as well as keeping infection away, helps remove the dressing.AS advised if your wound does bleed and can be controlled within 20 min'all is well.
I am glad that i bit the bullet and went ahead with the opperation and must say that i also have had no pain killers what so ever....GO FOR IT..Thats my advice.....good luck to you.
